The world is so different than it was on March 1st, 2020. Currently, we are in the middle of one of the largest pandemics the United States has seen. With our salon closed, it gives us a lot of time to think, reflect, and learn. We can think about what a non-essential business is. Technically, we are non-essential, and that is something we have had to accept these last few weeks. However, our amazing clients have made us feel as if we are essential. We have seen an abundance of love and support from all of you. We are receiving messages and seeing posts about men and women needing their stylists! We feel the same way, we need all of you!

 

The appreciation we are taking out of this situation is for all of you. For our friendships made in the chair, and all the laughs and memories we have made with each client. I think it is safe to say that our Duncan Edward family are thinking about the things we took for granted, before they were temporarily removed from our lives. That is the biggest thing a lot of us are taking away from this unfortunate situation: appreciation. Whether it is for your routine, your tasks, coworkers, an appreciation for that certain thing has grown stronger than before. From the Duncan Edward family we can say that this situation has made us appreciate all of you even more than we had before. Thank you for all the kind words, support through the purchase of product and gift cards, and for waiting it out until we can get you back in our chair!

International Women’s Day. To us, this day is about empowerment. It is for spreading love to women all around the world, including right here in our salon, Duncan Edward. In our business, we see a lot of different types of women, all beautiful and strong. Our job is to make these women feel better than they felt when they walked into our doors, to strive to make them feel powerful and confident. We aspire to make all our clients feel their best and feel that they can tackle anything when they love themselves inside and out.

As a salon, we focus on hair, and on the freedom, our clients have to express who they are through their cut, color, and style. We help women rock edgy pixie cuts, bangs, bright colors, neutrals with a twist, and even all-natural. There is no right or wrong when it comes to how a woman wants to express themselves with their hair. International Women’s Day 2020 for us means giving women the ability to show who they are and build up their confidence through whatever look they choose. We love seeing the look on a client’s face when they leave our chairs truly feeling like themselves.

It is 2020, women should not feel they need to maintain the same look just because it has always been that way. Just because people know them as a blonde or a brunette does not mean they cannot change their color and style for themselves. Break that barrier. Color your hair. Cut your hair. Embrace your hair. Whatever it is women want to do with their hair, we are here, tools at the ready at Duncan Edward European Design.

Summer is here!

Summer is here and in full swing. You might be deciding what events will take place on your busy days, but first, you must decide what to do with your luscious locks.

Hair trends change from year to year, season to season, and 2019 bears no exception. When observing what others are loving this year, we noticed a few things. First, color is key. Many clients are going for beach blonde colors, and some dare to go on the wild side with rich reds. Both colors come alive in the sun, and here at Duncan Edward European Hair Design in Madison, WI, we have more than enough of that to go around.

The second trend we are noticing is long, loose curls. Most of our color and cut appointments leave with their fresh locks laying beautifully in beachy waves. Even your shorter styles seem to be going with the flow and rocking the curls. They are the perfect way to have an effortless look for any activity. As far as haircuts go, the current favorite seems to be shoulder length or higher.

Sure, long hair is nice but, in this humidity, it is best to play it safe and keep your mane at bay.
